Meet the Team
William Charlton-Perkins (Managing Director/ Head Publicist)
An Honours Graduate of the University of Natal, William has fostered a lifelong passion for music and the performing arts. As the founding Managing Director of Copy Dog, and a freelance columnist and publicist, he has written about the Performing Arts for many years. He is a highly experienced Music and Theatre Journalist, having written his Classical Notes column for The Mercury for two decades, and has written in a freelance capacity for several other leading South African newspapers, magazines and online platforms. William is passionate about nurturing in others a love for the arts, and music in particular, through his writing. Throughout his career he has worked extensively with many leading professional arts institutions.
Clinton Marius (Creative Director/ Head Copywriter)
Clinton is a multi-award winning writer-director. The Durban University of Technology selected him in 2012 as the featured writer in their second annual Children's Theatre Festival. His play The Calf with No Name was selected for inclusion in a South African textbook for Grade 8 English FAL. He has served as a regional and national judge in the NLDTF/PANSA Festival of Reading New Writing, and for the Writers’ Guild of South Africa’s Muse Awards. Clinton created and wrote the smash hit radio comedy series, Lollipop Lane, which was broadcast twice daily on LotusFM, breaking numerous broadcasting records during its four-year run. Other award-winning triumphs include the children’s theatre production, Fantastical Flea Circus and his adult comedy, B!*ch Stole My Doek, which scooped a Standard Bank Ovation Award when it played on the 2015 National Arts Festival Fringe, before taking audiences by storm on the Cape Town Fringe Festival, and being nominated for six Durban Theatre Awards, winning Best New South African Script, Best Lead Actress and best Comedic Performance awards. Other writing credits include White Christmas, I Feel Pretty and the multi-award-winning Sweetie Darling.
Riaan Timson (Marketing Director/ Project Manager)
Riaan joined Copy Dog in 2012 as Marketing Manager for the multi-national touring production of Committed Artists' The Zulu and the Siyagiya International Music and Cultural Carnival. Since then, he has managed numerous accounts, including Ubuntu – The Opera, House of Shaka, the KZN Financial Literacy Association, and the International Arts Foundation. Before joining Copy Dog, Riaan was the PRO and lecturer at Durban Business College. A highly accomplished theatre producer, he has been at the helm of Copy Dog’s production operations since joining the company, and has also produced several productions while General Manager of Catalina Theatre, including Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story, Kudela Owaziyo, The Durban Children's Theatre Festival and Footloose - The Musical.
Riaan is currently completing his BCom Hons Business Management specializing in Project Management and The Management of Organisational Change and Renewal.
